Saffy Setohy and the BOW Collective presents Bodies of Water:
a playful, multi-sensory performance experience weaving together movement, choreography, water, objects and sound. We encounter water in our everyday lives - through our bodies and environment. Bodies of Water invites us to immerse ourselves in a unique performance experience, as we explore and celebrate this transformative element that connects all living things.
Bodies of Water was originally created by Aya Kobayashi, Nicolette Macleod, Saffy Setohy & Joanna Young.
This production will be performed by Saffy Setohy and Laura Bradshaw.
“Evocative, primal and really beautiful … serves as a gentle reminder to us of our small place in the vast world, but also, of our sharing, care and interconnectivity.” Fjord Review
“By swimming in the sea I cross the normal boundaries. I’m no longer on land but part of the body of water making up all the oceans of the world”. Amy Liptrot, The Outrun
“For unnumbered years it has welled from the rock and flowed away. It does nothing, absolutely nothing, but be itself.” Nan Shepherd, The Living Mountain
Our need for water connects us to all other living things. Underpinning the making of Bodies of Water is a belief that if we can connect to and inhabit the realities of our bodies and experiences, we will relate to and more easily consider our environment, our communities and the challenges that we face. Bodies of Water is an invitation to immerse yourselves in a celebration and exploration of our essential and complex relationship to this element. You are invited to participate gently within the performance; all participation is low-key and optional.
